The Nerman museum is located at the Johnson County Community college. The exhibit that this sculpture belongs to is called Illuminate by Dylan Mortimer. All of Mortimer's sculptures light up when you stand in front of them. Dylan likes to incorporate his own beliefs and views in his art in order to share his views with the world. Mortimer grew up with a respiratory disease and he believes that his faith is the only thing that got him through, and he wants to share that through his art work. I think that Dylan's work is very neat, I love how he incorporates his faith in his art work. I also really like how his artwork lights up when you stand under it because it makes you feel like you are a part of the artwork and not just looking at it.

This piece of artwork is really interesting and was one of my favorite exhibits at the museum. I like it because of the lights on it and how they turn on when you walk near them.
ReplyDeleteThat is very interesting that the sculpture lights up when you move in front of it. It is cool that you can actually interact with the artwork at the museum.
ReplyDeleteI do like the idea of how the artwork lights up when you go near it, it's a really cool idea. When the artwork lights up or you interact with the art in some way it does make you feel like you're part of the artwork. It's an amazing idea that's incorporated into all his works.
